Return to “Work to Rule,” BHE Picketing

October 9, 2018

Work to Rule:
At its meeting on October 5, 2018 the MSCA Board of Directors unanimously voted to return to “Work to Rule” based on the presidents’ decision to not implement the jointly negotiated equivalencies, that both parties ratified.

The decision to work to rule has been stayed pending the decision from the presidents on the consolidated grievance the MSCA filed.  That decision is due today.

BHE Informational Picketing:
The Board also included informational picketing at the upcoming BHE committee meetings at 1 Ashburton Place in Boston on October 16, 2018 and the full Board meeting on October 23, 2018 (site TBA) in our contract funding campaign.  At this point, as best we can tell, the BHE has not submitted a request to fund the day contract to the governor.  The law requires the Board to do this within 30 days, that deadline was in mid-August.  The MSCA has filed an unfair labor practice charge with the Department of Labor Relations – but a hearing on that charge will not be until mid-December, at the earliest.

In the meantime, the MSCA will be having informational picketing at every BHE event.
