March 1st Deadline for Voluntary Retirement/Separation Program Participation

Dear MSCA Librarians and Faculty,

As you know the MSCA bargaining team negotiated a Voluntary Retirement/Separation Program earlier this month.  Eight of the nine state universities have agreed to participate in the program.  The Massachusetts Maritime Academy will not be participating.

If you are considering participating in the program and leaving service from the university, you should follow the directions the university sent out indicate how to notify them or your interest no later than the close of business on Monday, March 1, 2021.

If the university has not specified how to notify them, we recommend that you send an email to Human Resources and the Vice President/Provost no later than the close of business on Monday, March 1, 2021.

The notice you give by March 1, 2021 is not binding on you.  You have until April 1, 2021 to withdraw your intent to participate.  If you do not give notice of interest by March 1, 2021, you will not have another opportunity to participate in this program.

I remind you that to you must have 20 years of service to be considered for the program.  If there is a question about your eligibility, I would suggest giving notice by March 1, 2021 and have the university look into your eligibility.

Do not fill out the release (Exhibit A) until after April 1, 2021.

If you have questions please contact Human Resources, your MSCA chapter president or your bargaining committee representative.
