The Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA) stands in unwavering solidarity with our students, neighbors, and communities who are being targeted by the Trump administration. As the attacks on immigrant communities, LGBTQIA+ communities, Black, brown, and Indigenous communities, disabled folx, and workers across industries, unions, labor protections, anti-racist and social justice initiatives, and academic freedoms escalate, we INSIST ON OUR SOLIDARITY with all those who are targeted and who are resisting deportation, dehumanization, exploitation, erasure, discrimination, repression and oppression.

As higher education workers, we know that our struggles are interconnected. The broader political, social, and economic conditions that threaten the well-being of our students, our communities, our colleagues, our families, our neighbors, and our friends are also our conditions. We are faculty, we are staff, we are librarians, we are queer, we are immigrants, we come from all backgrounds. We know that the struggles for labor rights cannot be separated from fighting for immigrant rights, racial justice, and LGBTQIA+ liberation, struggles against colonial plunder and against war; they are all interconnected. We refuse to allow the interests of the rich and reactionary forces to divide us.

AS MSCA, WE COMMIT TO:

  • Defending our immigrant students, workers, and neighbors from detention, deportation, and xenophobic policies.

  • Fighting against racism in all its forms, against xenophobia, against transphobia and sexism within and beyond our workplaces.

  • Protecting and advocating for LGBTQIA+ colleagues and students against discrimination and erasure.

  • Resisting attacks on academic freedom.

  • Building cross-sector solidarity with other unions and workers to challenge the billionaires and politicians that seek to extract wealth from our labor while denying us basic rights and protections.

We call on our members, colleagues, and students to join us in organizing, resisting, and envisioning a future where all people live with dignity.

Solidarity is our strength.

Solidarity keeps us alive.

We will not be divided.

We will not be silenced.

We will fight together.
