Approval of the Orders of the Day

It was moved and seconded to change the order of business. The motion was defeated.

President's Report

Acting President Minasian distributed his report. He announced the resignations of the MSCA Treasurer and the MSCA Secretary. It was moved and seconded to open nominations to the membership and have the Board elect a Treasurer and Secretary at the December 29 meeting. The motion was defeated.

Nominations were then opened for Treasurer and Secretary. Two candidates were nominated for each office. G. Price and J. Concannon were elected Treasurer (Price) and Secretary (Concannon).

It was moved and seconded that the MSCA oppose a Landrum Griffin-like bill that is pending before the legislature. The motion was approved.

It was moved and seconded to enter executive session. The motion was approved. It was moved and seconded to leave executive session. The motion was approved.

Motions from Executive Session

It was moved and seconded that the MSCA request that the MTA Board authorize its NEA directors to support the efforts of Congressman Frank in his attempt to bring salaries of Massachusetts State College Faculty and Librarians to comparable levels with peer institutions as identified by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education. The motion passed.

Visiting Speakers

There were no visiting speakers.

It was moved and seconded that the MSCA Board reiterate its support for the efforts of the bargaining team, its chair, and its negotiator to bring about a fair and decent contract for all unit members. The motion passed.

It was moved and seconded to thank Frank Minasian for his stewardship of the MSCA as its acting president. The motion passed.

Treasurer's Report

Treasurer McMahon distributed his report including the cash and expense statements for October, 2000.

It was moved and seconded to fund delegates to the upcoming NCHE conference at $750 per delegate out of a maximum pool of $6000. All delegates must be or become NCHE members. The motion passed. It was moved and seconded that MSCA chapter presidents notify their membership
