Union Governance Rights

Membership in the Massachusetts State College Association means full governance rights in all four of our union affiliates. 

What does this mean for you as a member? 

  • You are a member of the National Education Association and may run to serve as a local delegate for the annual Representative Assembly held in early July each year;
     

  • You are a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and may serve as a representative to the Annual Meeting, where members vote on the budget, dues structure, bylaws, resolutions and priorities for the upcoming year;
     

  • You are a member of the Massachusetts State College Association and can serve your chapter as a delegate to our annual Delegate Assembly where you will vote on the budget, dues, resolutions, and priorities for our upcoming year;
     

  • And you are a member of your chapter affiliate (Bridgewater, Fitchburg, Framingham, MassArt, MCLA, Mass Maritime, Salem, Westfield, Worcester) and can serve on your local board or executive committee.
     

You are also entitled to VOTE in all union elections and to ratify any contract.
 

You are eligible to run for office in any of these affiliates.
 

You are eligible to serve on MSCA statewide committees and MTA committees.
