Bargaining Update

On behalf of the Bargaining Team, I would like to offer the following update regarding the status of negotiations.

As of Tuesday April 18th, the MSCA team has met with management for the third time and we have presented our full proposal.  While management has offered some proposals, we have yet to receive their complete document.  They also indicated that a financial offer would not be made available until “late spring.”

At our last meeting on April 18th we expected responses to some of our items initially discussed on March 23rd.  Unfortunately, management chose not to engage in any discussions and we ended the day early after we presented and reviewed our full proposal.

At our first meeting on January 31st management offered a total of four meeting dates before the expiration of the collective bargaining agreement.  After two subsequent meetings, there has been no progress  and we believe there is not sufficient meeting dates to reach an agreement by the June 31st expiration of the collective bargaining agreement.  After several requests, management did agree to one additional date of June 21st, for a total of three more meetings.  The team is extremely concerned about management not having a full proposal yet and the lack of willingness on the part of management to come to the table prepared to discuss the issues we put forward.

We are not scheduled to meet again until May 15th and we will provide additional updates as is warranted.

The bargaining committee drafted an action plan that was approved by the MSCA Board of Directors that involves a multi-pronged approach,  We anticipate the need for starting job actions, possibly as early as graduation.

Thank you for your support.

Respectfully submitted,

Amy Everitt, Chair
MSCA Day Bargaining Team
