The meeting was called to order by Patricia Markunas, the President,
at 2:31 p.m. in the Essex County Room.
Approval of Minutes:
The Minutes of 98-99:5, 98-99:6 and 98-99:7 were approved with
corrections.
President’s Report:
A. President Markunas introduced Profs. Burchsted and Everitt
as new members of the Executive Board.
B. Appointed to the DGCE Bargaining Committee: Profs. Luddy
and Markunas (2nd). Appointment Approved by the Board.
The Board went into Executive Session to elect a member of the Academic Policies Committee.C. Department Chairs indicate they wish a meeting with Union leadership again this year. This will be an open session to be scheduled later.
The Board came out of Executive Session.

Bargaining Report:
The Board went into Executive Session to discuss bargaining.
The Board came out of Executive Session.
The President wished the record to show thanks to Paul McGee
for his hard work through a series of long, tedious and
frustrating bargaining sessions.
Treasurer’s Report:
The Treasurer, Susan Sturgeon, submitted her report for September
of 1999. The Board voted to receive the Treasurer’s Report.
Grievance Report:
Prof. Mahaney made his report as Grievance Officer. There are
11 grievances so far this year, with one more to come. The grievance process
seems to be backlogged, especially at step 3.
