Present: Massoud Farahbakhsh, Paul Marsella, Patricia Johnson, David Jacobson, Paul McGee, Chuck Gould, Amy Everitt, Lynne Hanrahan

Nancy George was absent at this meeting, so the president, appointed Joseph Aiyeku to take note for the day.

The meeting called to order at 2:40pm by the president, Paul McGee. He said the purpose of the meeting was to bring the executive up to date on PeopleSoft.

1. Before discussing PeopleSoft, however, the president informed us that the cost of the new Service Marking - "Educating You for Life" that now appear on the 2003 telephone directory is $585.

2. Surveillance Cameras are now installed on all campuses and are located on: MH, PH, AB and RB in North Campus; HB and AB in South Campus; Pacific Street Parking area and Rockett Arena in O'Keefe Center; and Police Station in Central Campus. All cameras are outside the building except one of the two in the Police station.

3. The search committee for the VP Academic Affairs is now set but has not met yet. The team headed by Stanley Cahill, consists of six-faculty members and four administrators.

4. President Harrington recommended two appointments, one promotion and one termination to Human resources Committee for action.

5. Chief Brian Pray of the Campus Police requested to attend the union meeting and make presentation on the need for the campus police to carry gun. In response to Massoud question as to the reason, Paul said five other state college campus police carry gun. The presentation will be on December agenda.

6. The Union annual holiday party is set for December 11, 2002 from 11:30 -1:30 pm at MLK room

Now on the PeopleSoft:

1. Paul thanked Sue Case for her work on the survey on PeopleSoft Usage Rate. It turns out that the college is having problem with PeopleSoft from financial aid to general College records.

2. Executives debated on what to do now. Paul requested if it is OK to go ahead and file chapter grievance on this issue, because among other things, it has increased workload for the faculty.

3. After further debate, the following recommendations were suggested as remedies for the grievance:

A. The college to pay faculty for training
B. Purchase relevant periodicals.
C. Hire support personnel that have good knowledge of each department.
D. Upgrade faculty computer to meet the required speed needed to run People Soft.
E. Redeploy and retrain people to help train others.
F. Create Faculty Mentor program and give release time to those faculty mentors to help train others.
