GUEST: Margaret Vaughan.

The meeting was called to order by Paul McGee, the President, at 2:05 p.m. in the Presidential Room.

1. Approval of Minutes It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes of 00-01:10. The motion carried.

2. President’s Report
-Our response to the attack on Sept. 11 should be sensitivity to the needs of faculty, staff and students. There will be a concerted response from the college. It was suggested that the college lacks its own disaster plan. -As of 9/10, the Admissions office reports that paid deposits are up by 273 students.
-There is a new attendance policy which requires us to report attendance three times a semester. This is the result of a negotiated response to a legal mandate.
- The new policy for the grade of “W” is unclear.
-There was a request to fill some committees during the summer. President McGee provided faculty to staff search committees for a staff assistant in IT and for the Administrator to head CCPA.
-There will be a new attempt to secure a Music Major.
-Professional Development monies may be distributed inequitably, we are studying that issue.
-Distribution of Merit Pay is the President’s decision alone. There is some question about how that decision should be publicized. -Assessment: There is a move to create a Rising Junior Exam. The BHE wants a writing exam or portfolio review at the end of the Sophomore year. Some discussion of this issue ensued.
- The Academic Affairs Annual Report was distributed.

3. It was moved and seconded to receive the Treasurer’s report. The motion carried. The Treasurer reported that the MTA returns 40% of the dues collected from unit members to the MTA. The MTA distributes a portion of that to the chapters.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:36.

Respectfully submitted, Thomas E. Luddy, secretary
