It was decided by consensus that nominations from the floor by committees can only be made during General Membership Meetings of the Chapter.

The Board of Higher Education will be meeting on the Salem campus Dec. 5, 2000. It is rumored that the newest member of the BHE is James Carlin, Jr. and that the newest member of the SSC Board of Trustees is Virginia Buckingham, the new Massport Director.

The ad which is to go into the Chronicle of Higher Education in October against the wishes of the Salem and Bridgewater campuses was shown.

Members were given an update on the lawsuit and on bargaining. Charlie Flaherty has been hired by the MSCA Board of Directors to lobby at $3,000. per month if and when we go to fact finding.

A heated discussion ensued concerning bargaining. It was determined that:

1) Jim Cullen and Paul McGee will meet with the SGA to attempt to get students involved in the BHE demonstration on Dec. 5.

2) Paul was given permission to ask for the numbers of administrators at Salem currently and their salaries for the last 5 years in order to make some comparisons with faculty over the same period.

All members of the Executive Committee were urged to attend the meeting for new faculty at 11:15 on October 27 in the MLK room.

The meeting was adjourned at 4:15 p.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Sturgeon, Acting Secretary
