Dear MSCA full-time faculty and librarians,

The Board of Higher Ed/ MTA Health and Welfare Trust has extended our dental insurance contract with MetLife for an additional year. Effective July 1, the calendar year per person maximum has been increased from $750 to $1000.

The Health and Welfare Trust is funded by contributions from the State (currently $13 per week per full time equivalent employee). Sadly, this contribution hasn't kept pace with inflation. (The Commonwealth's initial contribution in 1985, if inflated by the rising cost of health care, would need to be about double what it is now.) Long time employees know that the benefits have slowly eroded over the years. That is why it is so pleasant to be able to announce (thanks to good fund management and your healthy teeth) some restoration (pardon the pun) of dental benefits.
