We are pleased to announce the appointment of David Borer as the new Executive Director-Treasurer of the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
Since 1995, David has been employed with the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), the world’s largest union of cabin crew members. He currently serves as General Counsel of the AFA. He leads and manages attorneys, professional negotiators and administrative staff and is responsible for a multimillion-dollar budget. David personally led the most successful strike in modern airline history.
With the AFA, David also has held the positions of Director of Organizing and Director of Collective Bargaining. He has managed several large organizing campaigns. Prior to joining the AFA, David worked for the Ohio Civil Service Employees Association/Communications Workers of America (AFL-CIO), serving in the positions of Field Representative, Staff Attorney and Regional Director.
David brings in-depth experience in leadership, collective bargaining, organizing, legislative affairs, fiscal management and public relations. He is a diligent researcher and strategic thinker. His written articles have been widely published, and he has testified before the United States Congress.
Although David’s background is not in education, he is committed and passionate about public education. He is a superb communicator who thoroughly understands collective bargaining and unionism and has a sense of direction and vision for the future success of unions. We find him to be insightful, personable, confident and creative.
David will begin as our new Executive Director-Treasurer on Monday, July 14.
