Bargaining and Legislative Updates: MSCA

2007 Annual Meetings:

2007 MSCA Delegate Assembly: April 28th, Massachusetts College of Art
The MSCA Delegate Assembly is the policy-making body for the organization. An annual Assembly is held to hear the reports of officers and committee chairpersons, take action on the annual budget and dues for the organization, consider possible amendments to the MSCA's constitution, and take action on new business items, resolutions and other policies for the organization as a whole.

The nine MSCA chapters have an allocation of delegates to the Assembly, based on the size of the chapter's membership. All union members in good standing, including full-time, part-time day and DGCE members, are eligible to run to be a delegate and, if necessary, to vote in chapter elections of delegates. If you are interested in serving as a delegate to this year's Assembly, contact your chapter president for information about the nomination and election process on your campus. Travel expenses are reimbursed by the chapter.

2007 MTA Annual Meeting, May 11-12, Boston Hynes Auditorium
The MTA Annual Meeting is the policy-making body for MTA. Many of the activities that occur at the MTA Annual Meeting are similar to those above for the MSCA Delegate Assembly. One important difference is that the election of MTA officers occurs biannually at the MTA Annual Meeting, as well as the election of members to the MTA Executive Committee and Board of Directors.

The delegate allocation among the nine MSCA chapters and the eligibility to run as a delegate to the MTA Annual Meeting is similar to the MSCA Delegate Assembly. Some differences are that a member is eligible to run and vote only if that member pays dues to the MTA through the MSCA, and that alternates to the MTA Annual Meeting are seated statewide, rather than just through their chapter. If you are interested in serving as a delegate to the Annual Meeting, contact your chapter president for information. Travel expenses, stipends and a paid-for hotel room are available for all delegates attending.
