Dear Dr. Markunas:
I am very pleased to announce that Secretary Eric Kriss has signed the faculty contract negotiated between the Board of Higher Education (BHE) and the Massachusetts State College Association (MSCA). The contract negotiations were hard fought but the results fair and beneficial to both parties. I appreciate your commitment and that of the bargaining team to the development of a contract that supports the committed and quality efforts of our state college faculty.
The BHE staff has already begun the work, in collaboration with the campus fiscal officers and human resource directors, to prepare any fiscal data necessary to the funding of the agreement to be submitted to the Executive Office of Administration and Finance. Upon completion and verification by the Office of Employee Relations (OER) and the Fiscal Affairs Division (FAD), Governor Mitt Romney will submit his funding request to the Legislature.
