Dear MSCA members,
The attached document is intended to provide you with information about the “Healthcare Contribution Program,” which allows eligible employees to retire and pay lower health insurance premiums.
The legislature recently increased the percentages that state employees pay for their GIC heath insurance coverage. Employees hired prior to July 1, 2003 saw the percentage that they pay for GIC coverage increase from 15% to 20%; employees hired on or after July 1, 2003 saw the percentage that they increase from 20% to 25%.
Under this new "Healthcare Contribution Program," employees who file with the State Retirement Board by October 1, 2009 and retire by January 31, 2010 will pay 15% of their GIC premiums.
If you have any questions you should contact the State Retirement Board and the Human Resources office at your campus.
