Dear State College faculty and librarians,

Welcome back!

Although we were not been able to secure a new contract, this has been a busy summer for the MSCA Day Bargaining Committee.

Members of the Day unit will soon be receiving a detailed bargaining update that will explain what has been happening at the table and in our interactions with Governor Patrick over the past few months.

Governor Patrick has authorized "parameters" our negotiations. These are 2.5% effective January 1, 2009, 2.5% January 1, 2010 and 2.5% January 1, 2011. These are far less than needed to keep up with the cost of living, and not even remotely close to what would begin to address our uncompetitive salaries in the academic marketplace.

Our next negotiating session is September 24th. Please be ready to participate in actions in support of contract negotiations.

Don't forget to VOTE NO ON QUESTION 1! Ask your family and friends to VOTE NO ON QUESTION 1 and join with others in helping defeat Question 1. The state colleges cannot afford further losses of state support! Passage of Question 1 would be devastating.
