Dear Colleagues,
The Joint Committee on Bonding, Capital Expenditures and State Assets has not yet reported out the Higher Education capital improvement bill, H4538. The bill would provide bonds for $2 billion in capital improvements at the 29 public colleges and universities.
The current deadline for reporting out is Thursday, June 12th. If the bill is not acted upon, then under the joint rules of the House and Senate the bill would automatically be reported out as "ought not to pass."
The key contacts at this point appear to be Senate Chair Montigny (Bristol and Plymouth) and Senate President Murray (Plymouth), so the key chapters for contacts would be Mass. Maritime and Bridgewater State. I have, however, included below the names of the members of the committee.
Members in these districts should contact their state Senator or Representative and ask him or her to report out the bill favorable by this Thursday.
Thank you for your help with this matter! C. J. O'Donnell MSCA President
