Dear MSCA Faculty and Librarians:

The newly executed 2006-09 DGCE contract has been posted on the MSCA website. Printed copies should be available through the chapter offices for DGCE members by mid-April.

The 2006 Faculty Salary Study, conducted by the state college Council of Presidents, has been posted on the MSCA website as well. On behalf of the MSCA, I would like to thank Ms. Jane Coviello of the Fitchburg State College Human Resources Department for her work in overseeing this important research project.

The MSCA Bargaining Committee will meet on March 23 to review the COP salary study. Last semester, the Committee had purchased the annual salary study of the American Librarians Association to review librarian salaries as well. The parties are scheduled to meet next on March 29.

I attended the organizational meeting of the governor's task force on higher education on March 22, 2007. I must say that it was an impressive group of individuals involved in and concerned about public higher education in Massachusetts. We in the state colleges are indeed fortunate that Fitchburg State College President Robert Antonucci will chair this group, which is scheduled to meet weekly for the next six weeks.
