Dear MSCA Faculty and Librarians:

As you may recall, we were told last Thursday, after the House passed H 4560 (the supplemental budget bill that has our contract funding included in it) that the Senate would take action on the bill on Monday of this week. This action did not take place yesterday or today. The Senate has adjourned for the day and will reconvene in informal session on Thursday, December 15th.

Information received from Jo Blum, Director of the MTA Governmental Services Division, indicates that the hold-up has nothing to do with the contract funding, but rather the wish on the part of the Senate to include gang violence money in the supplemental budget bill now. However, the House wants to wait and do this additional funding in January.

Members are urged to contact their senators to urge action on this bill now, during the informal session. Thank you, as always, for your patience and support.
