Dear MSCA Members:
As of today's date, the governor has not yet filed a bill with the legislature to fund the MSCA contract. The reasons for the delay in this process have been that the administration is requiring detailed salary calculations for unit members on an individual basis, a complicated task that was not given to campus administrators until August 15th. It is unclear how much longer this process will take or when the governor will file the bill that is necessary to begin the legislative approval process for the contract funding.
Posted elsewhere on this site is detailed information (please see links below under Webmaster's Note) about the legislative contract funding process, the provisions of the new contract that are now in effect, and the provisions of the contract that are contingent on the contract funding being enacted into law.
Chapter presidents will be holding important meetings with faculty and librarians to review the information about the new contract and to answer your questions about it. Please make every effort to attend these meetings on your campus.
I wish you the best for a productive and enjoyable academic year.
Pat Markunas Patricia V. Markunas, MSCA President
