March 7,2005
Dear Colleagues:
On Friday, March 4th, the MSCA Board of Directors voted to recommend ratification of the proposed 2004-2007 contract to the membership. The ratification vote will be held on March 30 and 31, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm at locations to be announced on each campus. The ratification count will be held on April 1st beginning at noon at the MTA regional office in Auburn.
The MSCA Board also voted to rescind, at least temporarily, its recommendation that MSCA members withdraw from voluntary activities on their campuses.
Pre-ratification meetings have been scheduled on eight of the nine campuses so far; please contact your chapter president for further information.
A detailed outline of the settlement, plus an Excel spreadsheet to calculate expected pay increases over the term of the contract, have been posted on the MSCA website . The outline will be published in a special edition of the MSCA Perspective and sent to members' home addresses this month. Copies of the tentative settlement, still being worked out, will be available in chapter offices as soon as possible.
Please direct all questions about the tentative settlement to your chapter president, bargaining committee representative, MSCA Bargaining Committee chairperson Brad Art, MSCA President Pat Markunas or MTA Consultant Donna Sirutis. Thank you again for your support.
Pat Markunas, MSCA President Brad Art, MSCA Bargaining Committee Chairperson
