I call your attention to the article in the December/January issue of the MTA Today on pages 9 and 17 that outlines a proposal to fund the higher education contracts that were vetoed by outgoing Acting Governor Jane Swift last summer. Although the MSCA membership was not directly affected by these vetoes, they portend very badly for our future relationship with the state at the bargaining table.

Resolution of the impasse over funding the higher education contracts for our colleagues at the universities and in APA is crucial as we undertake negotiations this spring for our successor agreement.
