Messages to the Membership-Pres. Pat Markunas: MSCA

November 25,2002

Dear Colleagues:

After our review of management's figures to be used in the calculation of the merit bonuses for the MSCA day unit, we asserted that the total figure for the salary pool should be at least one million dollars ($1,000,000) higher than the figure that was generated by management. Management's figure represents a tremendous shortfall of dollars to be paid to the membership, and we want to be sure that there is no such shortfall.

Management's representatives were working late on Friday to resolve this substantial discrepancy. It is still possible to meet the deadlines for the December 6th payroll for these payments, although that date is not guaranteed. The delays in this process are due to the involvement of Board of Higher Education staff members in a process that traditionally has been handled by local campus administrators.

Additional reports to the membership, if available, will be posted on the MSCA website over the holiday weekend. Please accept my very best wishes for an enjoyable Thanksgiving.

Pat Markunas
MSCA President
