Dear Colleagues:

The MTA Annual Meeting was held on May 17 and 18 in Boston. Catherine Boudreau, of Massasoit Community College, was elected to serve as MTA President; Anne Wass of the Hanover Teachers Association was elected to serve as MTA Vice President. Both terms are two years and begin July 1, 2002. On behalf of the MSCA, I congratulate both Cathy and Anne and look forward to working with them in the years ahead. The delegates approved a $10 dues increase for full-time members, with proportionate increases for part-time members, for the 2002-2003 membership year.

The House adopted its version of the FY 2003 budget, which includes restoration of much of monies cut from the state college budget and funding for the remaining state employee contracts. As soon as figures figures for the state colleges are available, they will be posted on this site.

Members are urged to call their state senators to urge support of the increased revenue measures adopted by the House and to urge support for funding for public higher education and the state employee contracts.
