February 4,2002
Dear Colleagues:
It is still our understanding that the pay increases, with retroactive monies, will be implemented later this month and included in the "pay advice" of March 1st.
Elsewhere on the Webpage is posted a recently executed memorandum of agreement that extends certain sick leave and family leave benefits for full-time and salaried part-time members of the day bargaining unit . Acting Governor Jane Swift provided these benefits to state employees in the executive branch last summer, and the MSCA issued a demand to bargain over them for our membership. The MSCA Bargaining Committee continues to bargain with the employer over issues related to distance education, intellectual property rights, and electronic surveillance.
On February 1, 2002, the MSCA Board of Directors voted to accept the following slate of candidates certified to run for MSCA office for the 2002-2004 term:
Patricia Markunas President Frank Minasian Vice President Gail Price Treasurer Gerald Concannon Secretary.
The rules and calendar governing this year's election are posted on the Webpage and appear in the January issue of the MSCA Perspective.
