Dear Colleagues:

We have received reports that, contrary to the previous Message to the Membership, some college presidents may not be willing to waive either the contractual three-month notice on sick leave buyback OR the contractual requirement that persons on sabbatical leaves will not have to "pay back" their sabbaticals by the 2:1 ratio in the contract. These waivers were supposed to apply to all unit members who take the early retirement incentive program, NOT unit members who will retire "normally" this year.

If you wish to take the early retirement incentive and you experience any difficulty relative to either of these waivers, please contact your local grievance officer as soon as possible.

In addition, we have been advised that individuals who plan to retire, either through the early retirement incentive program or "normally," must contact their local campus Human Resources Office in order to insure that group health insurance benefits will continue uninterrupted.
