Dear Colleagues:
The latest information we have about the implementation of the pay increases and retroactive monies is that these payments will be made in the second payroll period in February and "adviced" to members on March 1st. The delay has been caused by a "blackout" that will last until February 6th in order to install an upgrade to the HR/CMS operating software.
The deadline to apply for continuing scholarship monies under Article XIV (Professional Development) has been extended until February 15, 2002, at all campuses. The amount of money available is about $550 per eligible member. In addition, supplemental professional development monies will be available later this spring. The academic vice presidents should be sending out reminders about these procedures.
No college president requested that the effective date for early retirement be changed; it will remain at June 15, 2002, for all MSCA members who take this option. The presidents have also agreed to waive the contractual requirement that sabbaticals be "paid back" by members who take the early retirement option. Please direct specific questions about eligibility, calculation of pensions, health and life insurance, limits on earnings after retirement, etc. to your local Human Resources Department or to the State Retirement Board.
