Dear Colleagues:

Welcome back! I hope that everyone has had a restful and enjoyable break, and I wish everyone a successful and productive semester.

The latest information on the implementation of the pay increase is for this to occur by the first payroll period in February. This webpage contains an Excel spreadsheet that will allow members to calculate their new salaries and retroactive pay. For members who are contemplating early retirement, new salary information should be available at the local campus payroll office or human resources office.

The bargaining committee recently finalized a memorandum of agreement concerning the extension of certain medical leaves and other "family friendly" proposals made by the Acting Governor. This memorandum should be signed by the parties next week and will be made available on this page and in next month's Perspective. Impact bargaining on the issues of distance education and intellectual property rights are ongoing.

I am honored to report that I have been appointed by MTA President Steve Gorrie to serve on the MTA Grassroots Committee to Elect a Governor. I consider next year's gubernatorial race to be the most important issue facing our membership, and I will give it my highest priority in terms of time and energy.
