Dear Colleagues:

All indications are that the FY 2002 budget will be reported out of conference committee and sent to the Legislature for action this week. If so, there will be sufficient time for the Legislature to override vetoes by Acting Governor Swift should she exercise this option.

Our contract funding may be included as part of the FY 2002 and so will be voted on this week, OR it may continue as a supplemental to the budget and will be voted on prior to November 21st. As soon as we have hard information as to its status, we will inform the membership.

The MTA direct mail postcard campaign, which was sent to MSCA members at home addresses, transposed senator and representative addresses and messages. This mailing should be disregarded. A second mailing, clearly marked CORRECTED POSTCARDS ATTACHED in red letters in several places, will be sent first class to members today. PLEASE SIGN, STAMP AND MAIL THESE CORRECTED POSTCARDS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.
