Dear Colleagues:

As you may know, the final state budget for fiscal year 2002 is currently three weeks overdue and is not expected to be finalized for another several weeks. The MSCA contract funding bill, HB4148, is being held in House Ways & Means until the FY 2002 is finalized.

Given the delay in the state's budget for next year, lobbyists for both the MTA and the college presidents are interested in seeing if HB 4148 can be enacted prior to the finalization of the budget. Recent settlements of the contracts for the APA unit and UMass (Amherst and Boston) may help this process. We will keep you informed.
