Messages to the Membership-Pres. Pat Markunas: MSCA

May 21, 2001

Dear Colleagues:

I am pleased to report that the first pay increase as part of the newly executed agreement will be paid on most if not all the local campuses in this week's payroll or that of June 8th. This pay increase will come from local campus accounts and will be a 2% increase based on full-time members' new salaries projected after the implementation of the state-funded pay increases effective December 30, 2000. The increase will be paid retroactive to December 30, 2000.

In addition, a 1% one-time "merit" payment from local campus accounts will be made to all full-time members who are deemed to be "satisfactory" in performance as determined by their department chairperson (Appendix D-5). The 1% pay increase will be based on the member's salary after all of the December 30, 2000, pay increases have been included.

These payments are being made now, as they were budgeted from local campus accounts and must be paid before the end of the fiscal year. The remaining increases and payments to be made effective December 30, 2000, will be implemented after the contract has been funded for FY 2002 by the Legislature, expected at the end of the budget debate.

We will get you further information about methods to check your paycheck. On behalf of the membership, I thank the local campus administrators for the prompt implementation of this pay increase.
