Messages to the Membership-Pres. Pat Markunas: MSCA

February 12, 2001

Bargaining will be held this Friday at Worcester State College. There are indications that progress may be made at this session. It is certainly everyone's hope that this is the case, given the regressive steps taken by management at the February 1st meeting of the parties.

March 18th marks the third year anniversary of the start of negotiations for a three-year contract. The two one-year extensions of the agreement have helped mitigate the economic impact of the extended negotiations and settled some important non-economic issues, but the membership has waited long enough. I remain committed to getting the deal at the bargaining table.

A meeting with Steve Gorrie (MTA president), Cathy Boudreau (MTA vice president) and Ed Sullivan (MTA Executive Director), among others, has been set for Tuesday afternoon at the Auburn MTA office to discuss strategies to confront the crisis in the MSCA bargaining. We will keep you informed.

Pat Markunas
MSCA President
