DGCE Contract Ratifed

The tentative 2015-2017 DGCE collective bargaining agreement was ratified today with the following results:

To the members who voted, thank you for participating in the process.  A copy of the rewritten collective bargaining agreement will be posted as soon as the final edits have been signed off on.


 

NOTICE OF DGCE CONTRACT RATIFICATION

DGCE Unit of the Massachusetts State College Association/MTA/NEA

The ratification vote on the proposed collective bargaining agreement between the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education and the Division of Graduate and Continuing Education (DGCE) unit of the Massachusetts State College Association for the period January 1, 2015 through December 31, 2017, will be conducted via mail.

The ratification vote is open to all employees in the bargaining unit covered by the proposed 2015-2017 agreement, regardless of their membership or non-membership in the Association.  All employees in the bargaining unit are eligible to vote by secret ballot.

Ballots will be mailed to DGCE unit members’ home addresses on Monday, February 22, 2016Ballots must be received at the MSCA Treasurer’s Office, 91 Burrill Avenue, Bridgewater, MA 02325 by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, March 4, 2016.  A postage-paid return envelope will be included with the ballot.

If you have moved recently, please contact the Treasurer’s Office immediately at (508) 531-2793 in order to ensure that the MSCA has your correct mailing address so that you receive a ballot in a timely manner.

The process of opening balloting envelopes and tabulating the ballots will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 7, 2016 at the MSCA Treasurer’s Office, 91 Burrill Avenue, Bridgewater, MA.  The tabulation of ballots is open to all DGCE unit members.  Results will be posted on the MSCA website [www.mscaunion.org].

The proposed 2015-2017 agreement amends the 2012-2014 collective bargaining agreement and contains an agency fee provision.  If the 2015-2017 agreement is ratified by a majority of those who vote, the agency fee provision will require that each bargaining unit member who elects not to join or to maintain membership in the Association pay the Association, on an annual basis, an agency service fee as a condition of employment.  The agency service fee for the 2015-2016 academic year is listed below.

The Association’s most recent financial report in the form of a balance sheet and operating statement listing all receipts and disbursements of the previous fiscal year is available for inspection at the MSCA Chapter Office on each campus.

The 2012-2014 collective bargaining agreement is posted on the MSCA website [www.mscaunion.org/contracts].  A summary of the tentative agreement that spells out the changes to the 2012-2014 agreement that will be incorporated into the 2015-2017 agreement is enclosed and posted on the MSCA website.

The Massachusetts State College Association is affiliated with the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the National Education Association.

The MSCA Board of Directors voted unanimously to recommend ratification of the proposed 2015-2017 collective bargaining agreement.
