A special thanks to David Jacobson who attended the assembly as an alternate but could not be seated as a delegate due to a procedural error.
The Assembly voted to increase the MSCA portion of dues by $30.00 for full-time and $25.00 for part-time unit members. The part-time increase is pro-rated based on the number of credits taught. This is the first MSCA dues increase in eleven years.
The Assembly also received reports from the MSCA Officers and MSCA Committees. The MSCA Friend of Education Award was presented to Ed Sullivan, MTA's Executive Secretary and Treasurer.
Executive Committee Meeting
There will be an Executive Committee meeting held on:
Tuesday, May 22, 2001 at 1:00 p.m.
Essex County Room, Ellison Center
This meeting is open to all unit members.
Bargaining Team Appointments
Both the day and DGCE bargaining committees will continue to negotiate the very
important issues of distance learning and intellectual property rights. On Friday
April 27, 2001, I recommended and the MSCA Board of Directors approved the following
representatives from Salem:
Day Bargaining:
Pesi Amaria
Nancy George (alternate)
DGCE Bargaining:
Stephen Matchak (alternate)
Tom Luddy will continue to be the lead DGCE representative. The membership owes a tremendous thanks to these dedicated members who are willing to serve on these crucial statewide committees. A DGCE session has been scheduled for mid-May. As always, we will keep you informed.
Executive Committee Appoints Committees
At its meeting of April 29, 2001, the Salem Chapter/MSCA Executive Committee
