Salem Chapter Elections

At the chapter meeting of March 28th, nominations were closed for the positions on the Salem Chapter/MSCA Executive Committee. These nominations appear on page two of this newsletter. There remains one vacancy in Division II (Humanities). Any eligible member who wishes to be nominated for this vacancy should contact the chapter office no later than Friday, April 7th, at noon.

At the chapter meeting of March 28th, the deadlines for nominations for Salem Chapter delegates to the MSCA Delegate Assembly and the MTA Annual Meeting were extended to Friday, March 31, at noon. Any eligible member who wishes to represent the chapter at these meetings should contact the chapter office prior to the deadline. The MSCA Delegate Assembly will be held Saturday, April 29th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston. The MTA Annual Meeting will be held on May 5th and 6th in Worcester. Travel expenses, including hotel accommodations for the MTA Annual Meeting, will be reimbursed.

Balloting will be held on Wednesday, April 5th, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm in the Chapter Office, Sullivan 205B, North Campus. All members of the Salem Chapter/MSCA -- full-time, part-time and DGCE -- are eligible to vote, including members on any paid leave of absence and members who have elected to pay union dues while on an unpaid leave of absence. Agency fees payers and unit members in non-compliance are not eligible to vote.

Tuesday, April 25th, 2:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Meeting of the Salem Delegation to the 2000 MSCA Delegate Assembly. Salem Room, Alumni House, South Campus.

Thursday, April 27th, 6:30 pm. Demonstration at the Salem State College Board of Trustees meeting. Presidential Hall, Alumni House, South Campus. Details to follow.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. Chapter luncheon to honor the newly tenured members of the faculty and librarians. Mezzanine Level of the Commons, North Campus.

Wednesday, May 3rd, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Chapter meeting to take nominations from the floor for the contract and non-contract committees and the installation of the 2000-2002 Salem Chapter/MSCA Officers and Executive Committee. Mezzanine Level of the Commons, North Campus.

Thursday, May 4th, 9:00 am to noon. Meeting of the Salem Chapter/MSCA Executive Committee to recommend appointments to the contract and non-contract committees (in executive session). Presidential Dining Room, Ellison Campus Center, North Campus.

Voter Eligibility

All union members (day and DGCE) in good standing are eligible to vote. Agency fee payers and persons in non-compliance are not union members and therefore are ineligible to vote.
