2. Protests and Demonstrations
150th Anniversary Gala
The protest held before the 150th Anniversary Gala at the North Shore Community College parking lot (leading up to the Sheraton Ferncroft Hotel in Danvers) was attended by 38 faculty members and an undetermined number of MSCA supporters. According to individuals who attended the Gala, people attending the Gala spoke about the faculty protest.

There will be three protests in the next few weeks:

October 24, 2004
Informational picketing before the SSC concert fundraiser. The concert will be held at Central Campus at 3:00 p.m. and picketing will begin before the concert.

October 27, 2004
Informational picketing before the SSC Board of Trustees meeting at Upper South Campus. We will begin picketing at 11:15 a.m. on the sidewalk at the base of the drive to go up to Upper South Campus. The protest will last 1.25 hours.

October 30, 2004
Informational picketing before the SSC Open House. We will begin picketing at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Mainstage Auditorium.

The chair of the Crisis Committee, Amy Everitt, will organize members for participation in these events and other protest activities.

Other Protest Activities:
It was moved and seconded that Paul McGee bring the following motion to the MSCA Board of Directors and Bargaining Committee: That MSCA Board of Directors and the Bargaining Committee to consider establishing a state-wide policy of withholding grades for Semester I until the last allowable moment. Said grades would be delivered to the Chapters' offices and then delivered by a Chapter officer to the appropriate place. The motion passed.

4. Bargaining:
There will be bargaining sessions on October 29 and November 1. It is unclear as to whether the COP will be unified in approval of the MSCA's contract proposal. Some presidents seem as if they would like to keep proposed language in exchange for money.

The meeting was adjourned at 11:45 a.m.

Respectfully Submitted,

Nancy George
