1. Meeting Called to Order
The meeting was called to order by Paul McGee, the President, at 2:00 p.m. in the Essex County Room, Ellison Center.

2. Approval of the Minutes
It was moved and seconded to approve the minutes of 03-04:2.The motion carried.

3. President's Report
Faculty Parking Fee:
The student member of the SSC Board of Trustees suggested that faculty parking fees be raised. The Executive Board was opposed to this suggestion.

Board of Higher Education - Core Curriculum:
The BHE is investigating the feasibility of creating a standard (or compact agreement) for core curriculum requirements for those students majoring in education across the state and community colleges. This would be in violation of our governance agreement at Salem State. In addition, before this would be enacted, these requirements would have to go through college governance.

Department Evaluations:
The BHE has set a mandate that requires departments to perform program evaluations. These program evaluations are tied into formula funding. Currently, although administrators at SSC have recommended departments begin this process, it is NOT required as it has not successfully gone through college governance. If this is approved, there may be problems with faculty workload, even though faculty members are given course load reductions to perform these evaluative duties.

Bargaining:
Bargaining is going very poorly, both for Day and DGCE. No students evaluations this year as a result.

MSCA Office:
The MSCA Salem Chapter office has moved to the Harrington Building. Space was needed in the Sullivan Building for the School of Education.

MSCA Salem Chapter Secretary:
It was moved and seconded to increase the MSCA Salem Chapter Secretary's pay from $14.50 to $16.00 per hour. The motion was unanimously approved.

College Personnel:
Cynthia McGurren is now interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement. She will be doing all that she was doing and in addition she will be in charge of fund raising.

The Schools of Business and Human Services deans searches are currently being performed. The Human Services dean search is internal (to the School of Human Services) only.

4. Grievance Report:
The Grievance Officer submitted her report to the Executive Board.

5. Treasurer's Report:
The Treasurer submitted her report to the Executive Board. The chapter has about $4000 cash at hand.

6. Other Business:
Paul McGee will invite President Nancy Harrington to the next meeting to discuss the Backfill project and other topics of interest to the Executive Board.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:40 PM.

Respectfully Submitted,

Nancy George
